I recently discovered another
Covered Bridge in New Brunswick that I wasn't aware of.
It is not an old bridge but
one that was recently built at the Village Historique Acadien
just outside the village of
Caraquet New Brunswick which is in the northeastern
part of the province

1902 plan from Public works. The length of the bridge is 71' by 14'. The structure of the bridge is a Howe truss of 10' spans. This picture was used with the permission of

This bridge is located in the
Village Historique Acadien.
It is 50 km's (30 Miles / 45
minutes) east of Bathurst NB on NB Highway 11.
If you are coming from the other
direction it is 16 km's (10 miles / 15 minutes)
west of the Village of Caraquet.
This would be an interesting
stop for any Covered Bridge enthusiast.
Along with seeing one of the
newest covered bridges in the world you will get a
chance to see a remarkably
authentic Acadian Historical site
(Phoenix Award Winner and Attraction
Canada 2001),
the Village Historique Acadien
strives to portray the lives of Acadians
between 1770 and 1939. More
than 40 complexes are
staffed by interpreters in period
costumes who bring ancestral
customsand traditional trades
back.
