Details of the Pallet Fence

Note this fence is going down a hill so the pallets are stepped.
This steel post was used because of the soft ground in the spring.
It is driven in about 3 ft.
The 1" board on top of the second pallet and extending into the the first is
how I joined them together
This shows how the top half pallet overlaps the bottom to make the 6 ft high wall.
The board used to join the pallets
This board extends into the other pallet.
If the pallet are flush with each other this board is just nailed across the top of each pallet.
Again showing the pallets joined together to make the 6 ft wall.
The center board of the top pallet was nailed through to the top of the bottom pallet
I used a board on the outside to join the bottoms.
A few things should be kept in mind. I wanted to build this fence in a hurry and I didn't have a lot of money to spend on it.
I had a serious neighbor problem and this was a good solution.
The fence was built in the summer of 2003 and has stood the test of time very well.
It stands in the open on the side of a hill facing the strong west winds we get here.
I am not a carpenter but like to build things.
